Whangarei Walks
Hatea Track Whangarei has numerous walks
on the fringes of town some of which are at A H Reed Park and the upper reaches
of the Hatea River. They start at Whareora Road off Mill Road and about ten
minutes from the centre of town. Both walks are well marked and part of the
A H Reed park walk is accessible to wheelchairs.
A H Reed Walkway This track starts at the same place as The Hatea walk and does a circuit to another water fall. All this one is in New Zealand native bush where some fine stands of Kauri Trees can be seen from the Kauri boardwalk. Also the canopy track takes the walker through the tree tops over a seventeen metre valley. Continue up the track to the waterfall. The return trip is on the other side of the creek. This will take about 3/4 hour for the whole walk
