here. Northern New Zealand enjoys a temperate climate. Warm in the
summer and few frosts in the winter. While October to March are the most
popular times for backpackers, campers. Just keep an eye on the
weather when doing outside activities. Southern New Zealand can have quite
harsh winters, But summer can be very hot and dry. Kaipara This area covers 100 kms of northern west coast beaches and a thin strip to the east coast at Mangawhai Heads. Rodney Kumeu to South Head across to Te Hana and Pakiri down the coast to the Whangaparaoa Peninsular and back across to Kumeu. Taranaki On The west coast of the North Island. Largely a dairy farming region with gas and oil thrown in and a mountain to boot. Lake Taupo New Zealand's largest lake is situated in the middle of the North Island . It is close to the famous Huka Falls and National Park. Picton Nestled in the Marlborough Sounds and at the top of the South Island. Waimate A Small town south of Timaru with a big heart and a big white horse and has lots of Wallabies. Taieri Gorge Railway and Baldwin Street Are both located in Dunedin. The railway goes to Middlemarch and Baldwin Street is the steepest street in the world.
